Order of the Eastern Star

What is the Order of the Eastern Star?
Dr Rob Morris founded the Order of the Eastern Star in 1850 as an organization for Masons and their immediate female relatives. The beautiful ceremonies of the order serve to instruct its members in the lessons of heroism and virtue embodied by several women from the Bible. Socially, the Order serves as an instrument by which Masons can extend the hand of fraternity to the women in their lives (i.e. their wives, mothers, daughters, etc.). The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternity in the world which admits both men and women.

As with all other Masonic-affilliated bodies, the Eastern Star is very active in supporting several charities at the local and national levels. The Order also has a strong history of supporting youth groups such as the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Job's Daughters, and the Order of DeMolay.

Who Can Join the Order of the Eastern Star?
Men who are Master Masons in good standing may petition for membership in the Order. Women wishing to join must have some approved Masonic relationship, as defined by the General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
