Blue Lodge Masonry
What is meant by "Blue Lodge?"
Also known as "Craft" lodge or "Symbolic Masonry," the term Blue Lodge applies to the basic foundations of the organization of Freemasonry.
The first step that a man takes into the Masonic fraternity is initiation into the three basic degrees of Masonry.
Once a man has achieved the rank of "Master Mason" he is said to have achieved the highest level of Masonic initiation.
While other "higher" degrees and organizations are available to the Master Mason, they are mostly designed to enhance the teachings of the first three degrees.
Any man who is involved in any Masonic organization (York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Eastern Star, etc) MUST complete the Blue Lodge degrees as a prerequisite.
He must also maintain good standing in his Blue Lodge as a condition of continued membership in whichever appendant bodies he belongs to.
The three degrees of the Blue Lodge are as follows:
1° - Entered Apprentice
2° - Fellow Craft
3° - Master Mason
